「パースペクティブ」には芸術分野で使われる“遠近法”という意味の他に、前途や見通しといった意味があり、哲学や心理学の分野では“世界を認識する視点”として使われている言葉でもあります。これは、私たちが一人の主体として、自分自身が生きる世界とどのように対峙していくか、その方法論を表す言葉として「パースペクティブ」が用いられていると言えます。

そして、作品を制作するということは、主観的なパースペクティブを通して把握された風景や事物を、表現として第三者へ伝達していくということです。私たちは、作品を鑑賞することで作者が持つパースペクティブに触れ、彼/彼女らがどのようにものごとを認識しているかを読み取ることにより、自分の視点とは違った角度で世界に出会うことができるのではないでしょうか。その出会いが鑑賞者のパースペクティブに影響を与え、更に別の他者へと伝達され、渦(スパイラル)のように入り混じりながら繋がり続けていきます。

　本展に参加している作家は、絵画、立体、映像、グラフィックアートなど作品形式は異なりますが、各々が独自の方法論と視点を持って制作をおこなっています。梶浦は俯瞰法を取り入れながら里山の風景やその土地に根付く植物の様相を描き、鮫島はオブジェの細部や断面を繋ぎ合わせることで画面の中で新しい関係性と距離感を創出します。須崎は支持体の形状から図柄を構想する建築的な順序を踏みながら、シリコンに図柄を転写する方法で立体作品を制作しています。寺田はファッション・デザイナーとコラボレーションし、ファッションの在り方を多角的に表現することを試み、水野は風景を素材に光や色を増幅、反転させることで白昼夢のような映像を作り出します。各作品を制作した作者の視点を踏まえてご覧いただくことで、本展が新しいパースペクティブに出会う機会となりましたら幸いです。

　Perspective is an art technique for projecting three-dimensions on a two-dimensional surface. The word also means outlook or prospect, and a point of view how individuals perceive the world in the field of philosophy and psychology. Hence it is used to express how we confront ourselves with the world we are living in as a subject.

Creative activity reflects on what artists are seeing, feeling and how they are in circumstances through their perspectives, and are intended for the third party to convey their messages. In other words, we can touch their perspectives through appreciating art works, think about how he or she perceives things, and have a different point of view to see the world. Such experience will affect viewers’ viewpoints and then connect people one after another; this connection continues on and involves people like a ‘spiral.’

　Artists in the exhibition are from different genres: paintings, sculpture, video work and graphic art. They have created a variety of works in their individual ways and perspectives. Kajiura depicts the landscapes in his overhead view image, and the objects around him. Samejima collages different forms and parts of sculptures, which is to make a new relation and feeling. Susaki creates sculptures using an architectural strategy; first designing a shape of the artwork that is suitable for properties of the supports, then embodying the idea by transcribing patterns on silicon parts. Terada collaborates fashion designers and strives to express what fashion should be from various perspectives. Mizuno makes videos of scenery by means of amplifying and inverting the light and color: his works looks being in a daydream. We hope visitors would enjoy the works and their unique perspectives, which may bring an opportunity to find new perspectives through our exhibition.
