Seian Art Center is pleased to announce its exhibition “Living and Environment.”
This exhibition aims to reexamine “architecture as a place to belong” through its relationship with diverse environments. In recent years, public spaces have increasingly called for designs that prioritize human comfort and the quality of stay, such as “living-room-like spaces” and “places where anyone can feel at home.” However, a “place to belong” can never be defined uniformly; rather, it is a unique domain that emerges from the specific conditions of each location—such as its natural environment, social context, and interpersonal relationships. This exhibition introduces architectural practices conceived from the starting point of diverse “environments” and the “relationships” born within them, through multifaceted expressions including models, drawings, and architectural photography. Through these case studies, we seek to reexamine how architecture can take shape within a responsive relationship with its environment, and to present new perspectives and possibilities regarding the nature of spaces that tend to become homogenized. We hope that through this exhibition, you will gain insight into the nature of “places to belong” rooted in their respective locations. Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those involved who provided support and cooperation in making this exhibition possible.
